MTC through July 5, 2020

Hello All,
This is Nancy Abbott, (Sierra Abbott's mom).  I have the privilege of sharing her emails and posts in this blog.

June 25th - Sierra posted
                   Hello - In case anyone does not know I am currently serving mission right now at the church historic sites in New York!  I am giving virtual tours so please contact me if you want a tour of any or all of these beautiful, and holy places.  If you would like a tour you can email me at  Sierra.abbott@missionary.org

Here are the sites that I am giving tours of
* The Smith Family farm
*The Hill Cumorah
*The Whitmer Farm ( where the church was organized among
   other things.)
*The Book of Mormon publication site.

June 30th  - Sierra's email to friends and family - Sorry I have not been very good about weekly emails, but I will try to do so.  A quick recap.

 *May 6- May 29th.  I participated in online Mission Training.  It was a wonderful experience in a lot of ways, but was a different MTC experience than anyone has ever had before.  It was nice because I got to be with my family and a couple of the missionaries from my ward really helped me!  I love them and they were the nicest most helpful missionaries around!  Although I wish I could have gotten the "real" MTC experience I know that I did learn a lot from that experience.

*June 15th - Arrived in Palmyra, New York.

My time in New York has been enlightening!  I had no ideas how important and amazing this church history is, and how it can help my or anyones testimony.  There is a wonderful ensign article by Elder Cook called "Church History: A Source of Strength and Inspiration".  My favorite part is the beginning to the title "Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon". This article has helped me realize my potential and purpose for serving at these beautiful historic sites, it's so powerful!! DISCLAIMER - after reading this you will want to learn more about church history!!  I can help with that!  I can give a virtual tour to 1 person or a group. The tour can take 10 minutes or 30 minutes depending on how much time you want to spend. I go to the following sites each week. (Of course I wish their was NO pandemic plaguing the world and we were open for in person tours but ... )
* The Smith Family farm
*The Hill Cumorah
*The Whitmer Farm ( where the church was organized among
   other things.)
*The Book of Mormon publication site.

It's a little crazy because I have never been here before and now I am giving tours here!  Small town New York is so beautiful and I love everything here!  It's so green and I love the architecture of the houses! Palmyra is just the most beautiful place to live.

For my Provo friends, my companion's friends with all the PME people!  These people do exist! She has taught me so much!  She is so nice, caring and a great example to me in several ways!

Add me on Facebook to see some pictures of theses amazing sites.

July 5th - Sierra's post - Christ's church in the modern days had their first meeting in a log cabin.  In that first church meeting the administered the sacrament.  Today many of us are having church meetings and administering the sacrament in our homes again.  We might live in different homes, countries, and circumstances than those of the past but the gospel is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
